Crossfit, an Elevated Exercise

Battle of the East, one of the biggest and most respected athletic competitions in the region, took place on the 30th and 31st of October 2015 – and Elevation Burger had to be there. Over 140 athletes from Kuwait and all over the world showcased their athletic aptitude to the judges at Marina Crescent. We have a soft spot for Crossfit athletes, which is why we decided to partner up with Circuit+ for this year’s event.

The competition pushed the participants to their limits – One of the challenges started off with a 50m swim, the air dyne, a 50m farmer’s carry (carrying weights), then a 50m run. They had 8 minutes to complete the challenge, which is the heart and soul of Crossfit –Mimicking the same movements you use for day to day activities using a minimal amount of exercise equipment for short but intense intervals. Calling the competition intense would be an understatement!

We were very proud to see women athletes both taking part and excelling in the event. The biggest misconception women have when it comes to weight lifting is that they’ll bulk up Schwarzenegger-style, and the evidence disproving that is in the science. Women have %15-%20 less testosterone than men, and no matter how much they lift, they will be unable to build large amounts of muscle unless they take steroids. What they will accomplish however is a strong, toned, and flexible body.

We hope that such events will inspire you to avoid counting each carb and calorie, or completely cutting out your favorite foods, in order to reach your goals- You have to, and should, EAT, but make nutritious, clean, and smart choices.

Anyone looking to build lean muscle or stock up on healthy protein can try the most ordered options at Battle of the East (did we mention that that we served our burgers under the pouring rain?) which was the Elevation burger wrapped up nice and snug in local and fresh lettuce. Each of our %100 certified organic beef patties contains 40 grams of protein, 0 trans-fat, and 2 grams of carbohydrates.

To join the fun, we also had our own mini-competition next to our food stand. The Elevation Burger challenges included air squats, burpees, push-ups, sit-ups, and cal row vs cal airfit. We awarded the winners with exclusive Elevation Burger t-shirts and free burgers.

The effects of exercise on your mental health as well are irrefutable because it causes a surge of serotonin, your brain’s feel good chemical. But one additional factor with crossfit is that because of the “push yourself to the limit” mentality, you will come out of each session feeling proud of what you were able to undertake.

Your confidence and willpower will elevate as you realize just how powerful you really are, and what you can accomplish with your body- and for that, you definitely deserve an Elevation burger.

• On November 28th, Circuit+ will be hosting a Movember WOD (workout of the day). This is going to be the second event we partner up with them. Are you up for the challenge?
